Using MODIS-NDVI Time Series to Quantify the Vegetation Responses to River Hydro-Geomorphology in the Wandering River Floodplain in an Arid Region

چکیده

Vegetation, hydrology and geomorphology are three major elements of the floodplain ecosystem on Earth. Although normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) has been used extensively to characterize growth, vigour biomass, methods for quantifying various distinct responses hydro-geomorphological changes in different lateral belts arid regions still needed. In this study, Linhe reach was divided into four based their characteristics, Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS)-NDVI time series statistical indicators were characterise changing patterns growth belts. The response river hydro-geomorphology each belt analysed. result showed that average maximum NDVI value regular inundation area 0.23 higher than other correlation between water persistence peak significant (ρ = 0.84), indicating contrast highly frequent or extremely rare inundation, provides benefits floodplains. Continuous may cause decreased productivity. Overall, our results suggest greenness is from edge floodplain. Thus, a better understanding interactions hydro-morphology resource management arid-region

Modelling the flow regime of an arid zone floodplain river, Diamantina River, Australia

Arid zone, ephemeral rivers are characterised by discharge decreasing downstream in the lower reaches due to transmission losses. Modelling the flow regime of these rivers requires data on the spatial and temporal distribution of transmission losses in these reaches. In this study, a hydrological model is developed for a 330 km reach of the Diamantina River in southwestern Queensland, where the...

Phenological response of vegetation to upstream river flow in the Heihe Rive basin by time series analysis of MODIS data

Liquid and solid precipitation is abundant in the high elevation, upper reach of the Heihe River basin in northwestern China. The development of modern irrigation schemes in the middle reach of the basin is taking up an increasing share of fresh water resources, endangering the oasis and traditional irrigation systems in the lower reach. In this study, the response of vegetation in the Ejina Oa...
